Khair Foundation was established in 2019 by the Ayoub Mohammed Family to perpetually continue the philanthropic work and community development that Mr. Ayoub Mohammed started during his lifetime.
MR. AYOUB MOHAMMED
The Family's patriarch, Mr. Ayoub Mohammed was born on the 29th June 1925 in Caroni Village, Trinidad and Tobago. He left school at the primary level to assist his parents in earning a living so that his brothers and sisters can get an education. He worked on the cane fields, dug for sand from the bed of the Caroni river, sold coals and worked in the rice fields with water up to his neck in addition to many other jobs. By the grace of Allah, he became a successful businessman in the garment industry, owner of several retail fabric stores and a construction contractor.
He was heavily engaged in religious and social work both within and outside of his community. He was always humble and never forgot to remember those in need as commanded by our Islamic faith. His legacy was not riches, possessions nor worldly goods of any kind; it was the way he lived, the lives he touched and the promises he kept.
He held the position of President in the Caroni Welfare Association, Caroni Village Council, Caroni Jamaah and the Islamic Missionaries Guild of the Caribbean and South America.
He lived a successful life until his passing on the 22nd September 2002 leaving his wife Mariam Mohammed now 92 years old, 8 children, 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and counting.
